Safety by choice, not by chance

The line

From enquiry to certificate

Six stops, no detours. Here’s exactly what working with us looks like, end to end.

1
Enquiry

You tell us the floors that matter — the surface type, the rough area in square metres and where you are in North Yorkshire. A quick call or the online form is all it takes.

2
Quote

A fixed, no-obligation quote comes back, usually the same working day. The price depends on the number of areas and floor types, the size and access of the site, and whether you need the pendulum alone or pendulum plus roughness — no surprises.

3
The survey

We visit and test on site. The pendulum swings a calibrated rubber slider across the floor to record a Pendulum Test Value (PTV), wet and dry, in three directions. Where floors get contaminated, surface roughness (Rz) is measured alongside it.

The standards

Everything is done to BS 7976-2 and BS EN 16165 and interpreted to UKSRG guidelines. That matters because every employer and occupier has a legal duty to keep floors safe and assess the risk — and in care settings the CQC expects slip risk to be actively managed.

Report & certificate

You receive a UKAS-accredited report: a PTV (and Rz where relevant) for every area, a plain low / moderate / high verdict, and independent recommendations — evidence an insurer, the HSE or the CQC will accept.

6
What next

If a floor falls short, we tell you plainly what to do — independently. Surface Performance has no connection to any flooring or treatment company and takes no commission, so nothing nudges the result. The same accredited lab is trusted from Amazon and Gatwick to British Airways and TUI, and tests 300+ flooring products a year.
